Beavers claim 4-0 victory over Saint Mary’s
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s soccer team beat Saint Mary’s (Calif.) 4-0 on Friday for their fifth shutout of the season. The No. 13 Beavers improve their record to 8-1-2 (3-0-1 Pac-12) and are now 4-4-0 in their all-time streak with the Gaels.
“I thought we started very well,” said the head coach Terry boss. âThere was a calm in our squad. We’re delighted to play another game, after a result we didn’t like at Stanford. It’s always nice to come back on the pitch. I was exceptionally proud of the the way the guys played, how they handled the game, made adjustments in the game and continue to play our brand of football from the first minute to the ninetieth. ”
In the 13th minute of play, junior Adrien Crespo found the back of the net for his first goal of the 2021 season, with assists from senior redshirt Tsiki Ntsabeleng and redshirt in second year Carlos moliner. Graduate student Adrien Molina Diaz took OSU’s lead to 2-0 over the Gaels in the 21st minute with a junior assist Sofiane djeffal. In the second half, senior redshirt Tyrone Mondi scored twice, in the 46th and 63rd minutes to give the Beavers a 4-0 lead. Molina-Diaz assisted Mondi’s first goal and Ntsabeleng assisted the second.
Molina-Diaz and Mondi each scored their sixth goal of the season on Friday and are Oregon State’s top scorers. Ntsabeleng leads OSU in assists, also with six. Senior Adrien Fernandez had his 19th career solo shutout and his fifth this season, recording five saves in the game.
The Beavers made eight shots on goal from a total of 15 shots and landed five corner kicks throughout the game.
The Beavers resume Pac-12 action on October 22 as they travel to Seattle, Wash., To face Washington at 5 p.m.
