Rocky Back in Top-25, Montana Western Drops to 24th Place in NAIA Poll | SWX now
Rocky Mountain College (4-1, 4-1) then upset the No. 20 West Montana 41-31. The win over the Ranked Bulldogs propelled Rocky to No. 1 in the conference standings and back in the top 25 at No. 23. The Battlin ‘Bears’ last appearance in the poll was during the inaugural edition of the regular season.
The road loss to Rocky brought Montana Western down (3-2, 4-2) to No. 24. The Bulldogs are one of four Frontier teams tied for second.
Eastern Oregon (3-2, 3-2) and College of Idaho (3-2, 3-2) both lost to unranked opponents and both dropped out of the Top 25 in the votes received category.
The poll was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences. Each conference is assigned an assessor for all four schools in the league.
The Top 25 is determined by a point system based on how each voter ranks the top teams. A team receives 25 points for each vote for first place, 24 for second place and so on through the list.
The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-scoring is considered a low score) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for each ballot (including including the reduced-cost ballots) on which the teams appear.
Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered âreceiving votesâ.
