Washington State Patrol: 16 separate accidents in the Tri-Cities area on Monday, 2 fatalities



TRI-CITIES, Washington – Cavalier Thorson with the Washington State Patrol, the agency investigated 16 separate accidents in the Tri-Cities region on Monday, including two accidents that resulted in fatalities.

Private Thorson says the top three causes were distracted driving, speeding and following too closely.

Washington State Patrol responded to a rollover accident on State Route 240 Monday afternoon that killed a Kennewick man. Investigators say Kenneth Bloom, 65, died in Trios after being seriously injured when his car pulled off the road and entered Columbia Park.

The Washington State Patrol returned to action Monday afternoon in the same area of ​​State Route 240 to investigate another rollover accident.

Private Thorson says there were minor injuries from the crash.

On Monday evening, Washington State Patrol responded to a rollover accident on I-82 near the Oregon border that killed a 35-year-old woman. Investigators say Chelsea Johnson, 35, of Redmond, Oregon, drove her car on I-82 about 14 miles south of Kennewick. Washington State Patrol said Johnson was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
